Another day, another deal for Brightstar, as the lottery solutions group continues to maintain its extensive client portfolio from its days as IGT.

The company has signed a six-year renewal with the California Lottery, focusing on ticket printing and related services, including Brightstar’s entire portfolio.

This will include instant ticket content, innovations and print and design technology from the Rhode Island-headquartered company’s portfolio. Marketing service, game development and analytics are also included.

“The California Lottery and Brightstar have partnered closely throughout the years to develop numerous successful innovations, including one of the Lottery’s highest-indexing games, the first $20 limited-tier game,” said Scott Gunn, Brightstar Chief Operating Officer, North America Lottery.

“We are excited to continue providing player-favourite games through our new contract and introduce new instant ticket offerings to Scratchers® players in California, while simultaneously supporting the Lottery and its mission to generate supplemental funds for public education.”

The deal came shortly after Brightstar secured another big Americas win after it was named as one of the two operators of the Sao Paulo state lottery, alongside Scientific Games.

Brightstar experienced a transformational 2025, having moved on from its prior identity of IGT after divesting its Gaming and Digital division to Apollo Global Management.

The IGT gaming and digital division is now a standalone business, continuing to trade and operate under the IGT name. Brightstar adopted its new name to reflect its new sole focus on lotteries.

Following the rebrand, the company quickly secured renewals to some of the biggest partnerships from its 30-year history of trading as IGT, including deals on both sides of the Atlantic.

This included a partnership with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation – the state department tasked with overseeing the Texas Lottery after a controversial year in 2025 – and the contract for the Italian national lottery as part of a four-company consortium.
