Scientific Games (SG) has updated the retail and digital channels of Lotto New Zealand across a total of 1,100 lottery operators.

The lottery rolled out its whole tech stack contained within its Momentum ecosystem, including the SYMPHONY central gaming system, WAVE Contour point-of-sale (PoS) terminals, the SG PAM player account management system, and logistics provided by the SciTrak and the gem|Suite lottery retail management system.

A comprehensive portfolio of games will also be supplied through Scientific Games’ Content Hub, which includes titles made by SG in-house and its third-party partner studios.

Patrick McHugh, Scientific Games CEO, said: “We commend Lotto New Zealand’s leadership and teams for their future-forward vision and thank all our Scientific Games technologists and project team members around the globe who worked diligently to plan and execute this system conversion.

“The technology upgrade for Lotto New Zealand was truly a global effort and inspiring for the many projects currently underway for Scientific Games lottery customers around the world.”

Switching from legacy to modern was gradually done over a period of two years that saw Scientific Games working closely with Lotto New Zealand and its retailers, putting in motion multiple database migrations and third-party system integrations.

Jason Delamore, Lotto New Zealand CEO, added: “We’ve modernized our digital and retail platforms, together with the way we’re delivering game entertainment. This sets the stage for more transformation and exceptional player experiences for years to come.

“On behalf of our players and retailers, and most importantly good cause beneficiaries throughout New Zealand, we are excited to be well-positioned for the future.”

What’s more, the rollout of PoS terminals and the subsequent set up of data centres required to host core central system infrastructure was done through a collaboration with Scientific Games and Lotto New Zealand’s IT consultancy partner, Datacom.

Greg Davidson, Datacom Group CEO, concluded: “This project reflects the strength of collaboration between our teams and the shared commitment to delivering secure, scalable systems that serve both retailers and players.”
