International Game Technology PLC (IGT) has once again secured a European Lotteries (EL) Responsible Gaming Certification for its IGT Lottery venture.
The Italian subsidiary also managed to simultaneously obtain Level 4 Responsible Gaming Certification from the World Lottery Association (WLA).
Both credentials are a staple in lottery safer gambling practices, enabling IGT Lottery to ensure quality seal in terms of player safety compliance.
Marco Tasso, IGT COO, Italian and International Sales and Operations, commented: “IGT Lottery achieving responsible gaming recertification by EL for the sixth consecutive time, paired with the highest level of WLA certification, showcases our status as a true global leader in sustainability.
“‘Advancing Responsibility’ is vital to our success as a lottery company, and central to our sustainability strategy. We will continue to deliver innovation while operating with the highest level of integrity to protect our people, products and processes.”
European Lotteries’ RG Certification is designed to unify the RG compliance standards across all of its members. The three macro guidelines, which the certification is based on, are prevention of underage gambling, player support, and the promotion of a positive approach to gaming.
IGT has initiated a strategic expansion plan specifically for the Italian market after securing $2.5bn in corporate revenues for FY24.
Now, the firm is preparing a bid to secure the Italian government’s new lottery tender by the end of March. A total of €800m of company funds have been allocated for the first two instalments of the new venture.
IGT said: “The bids are due by 17 March. Once they are in, the awarding commission will be established. There are no specific dates for the [licence] awarding but we expect it to happen in Q2.”
However, the firm could be facing competition for the tender, as Flutter expressed interest in the venture too during its latest financial results call.
Peter Jackson, CEO of Flutter, commented: “There is an opportunity to bid for the Lotto. We are putting our thoughts together on that. We’ve got a couple of weeks to decide what we’re going to do.”
