GamCare has appointed Victoria Corbishley as its new CEO, succeeding interim boss D’Arcy Myers.
Myers took on the role of Interim CEO in August 2023 after more than 12 years as a charity CEO, following the resignation of long-standing CEO Anna Hemmings in June of that year.
Corbishley brings extensive experience in healthcare transformation and service delivery. She has held senior roles, including Senior Director of Health and Care at the British Red Cross, and has worked within the NHS, the voluntary sector, and healthcare innovation.
In her new role, Corbishley will focus on improving accessibility, strengthening stakeholder collaboration, and maintaining GamCare’s commitment to supporting, educating, and treating those affected by gambling harms.
GamCare Chair Margot Daly commented: “As GamCare navigates the evolving landscape, Victoria’s leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our collaborations with the NHS as well as UKRI and OHID as the new prevention commissioner. Her strategic mindset, operational expertise, and commitment to innovation align perfectly with our mission. I look forward to working with Victoria as we continue to expand GamCare’s impact and ensure our services remain responsive to the needs of those we support.”
GamCare recently reported a 25% increase in calls and online chats to its National Gambling Helpline in 2023-24, highlighting the growing demand for its services.
Corbishley said: “I am honoured to join GamCare at this crucial time. Last year, our National Gambling Helpline handled over 55,000 calls and online chats. The charity also delivered more than 9,100 structured treatment sessions and referred over 7,100 individuals to regional support providers. Additionally, 64,000 people participated in our education programmes.“
“These figures highlight the vital role GamCare plays in addressing gambling harms. My priority is to ensure we continue delivering high-quality, accessible support while working closely with partners across the NHS and the wider sector to shape the future of gambling harm prevention and treatment.”
