The only regulated lottery in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has set its inaugural top prize to Dh100 million (£21.5m).

Game entry and prize draws are available for players over the age of 18. Due to the strict legislation as well, participation is only limited to people physically present in the UAE.

The lottery is operated by Abu Dhabi gambling firm The Game LLC, which received its licence under the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) – the UAE’s newly-formed regulatory body launched in September 2023.

Entry in the game costs Dh50 per ticket, and players who are feeling lucky can test their luck for the chance to win Dh100, Dh1,000, Dh100,000, Dh1m, or the ‘Lucky Day’ jackpot of Dh100m.

Lottery numbers can either be chosen manually by players or generated automatically through the ‘Easy Pick’ option.

There are also scratch cards available for purchase, with the prices ranging from Dh5 to Dh50 to offer winnings from Dh50,000 to Dh1m.

The UAE Lottery will leverage “advanced technology and the expertise of a team of global gaming experts” to provide a “safe, responsible, and regulatory-adherent lottery experience”.

Currently, games from the UAE Lottery are only available for purchase online, but plans are being laid out to bring them to physical stores as well.

Bishop Woosley, Director of Lottery Operations at The Game, said: “We aim to create exciting experiences while promoting responsible play. Following a rigorous GCGRA evaluation, our team remains committed to ensuring that all operations meet global standards, guaranteeing fairness and transparency from the draw process to the selection of winners.”
