The Kentucky Lottery has announced the extension of its long-standing partnership with Scientific Games for an additional 10 years, continuing a collaboration that has significantly fueled education funding in the state.
The partnership, which centers on Scientific Games’ Enhanced Partnership (SGEP) program, is set to further boost the performance of the Kentucky Lottery’s Scratch-Off games and generate critical funding for scholarships and grants for students.
Since its inception in 1989, Scientific Games has been the primary provider of Scratch-Off games for the Kentucky Lottery. In 2018, the lottery adopted the SGEP program, a move that has propelled Kentucky’s Scratch-Off product category to over $940 million in sales. As a result, the Kentucky Lottery is now one of the top 20 performing instant game lotteries worldwide.
Mary Harville, President and CEO of the Kentucky Lottery, highlighted the importance of the partnership in driving revenue growth and educational benefits for the state.
“The Kentucky Lottery is always looking for new and exciting games to offer our players and retailers, and the Lottery’s continued partnership with Scientific Games will ensure we are doing just that. Creative and top-performing Scratch-Offs bring the players into retailers, which in turn helps the Kentucky Lottery increase our revenues each year. This allows us to fund the many scholarships for Kentucky’s students and families.”
The SGEP program, utilized by some of the world’s top-performing lotteries, leverages data analytics and patented technologies to enhance portfolio management, game design, logistics, and retail marketing. The program delivered 31% better performance for U.S. lotteries in fiscal year 2023-24.
John Schulz, President of Americas and Global Instant Products for Scientific Games, noted the strategic importance of this partnership. “Our partnership has proven to be highly successful, keeping the product pipeline flowing with exciting and innovative games to Kentucky Lottery retailers and players and protecting funding for scholarships for Kentucky students.”
Since 1999, the Kentucky Lottery has contributed more than $5 billion to scholarships and grants, benefiting countless students and families across the state. Additionally, its partnership with Scientific Games has generated $1.6 billion in commissions for the lottery’s network of 3,500 retailers
