The Betting & Gaming Council (BGC), European Casino Association (ECA), and the American Gaming Association (AGA) have united to address key issues facing the global gaming industry.

The partners will focus on tackling illegal gambling and improving responsible gaming, innovation, and security across global sectors.

BGC CEO, Grainne Hurst, commented: “This partnership marks a new chapter in our shared vision to build a world-class, trusted, and sustainable betting and gaming industry.

“BGC members proudly uphold their reputation as global leaders and recognise the power of collaboration.

“By working with the AGA and ECA, I am confident that our combined knowledge and expertise will play a vital role in strengthening safer gambling standards while tackling the growing threat of the unsafe, unregulated gambling black market in the UK.”

The Momentum of Understanding (MOU) establishes a platform for joint research projects and brings together staff and members from each organisation to share expertise.

“This new partnership significantly advances our efforts to improve the legal gaming industry and protect consumers worldwide,” added AGA President and CEO, Bill Miller.

“By pooling our unique resources, we will broaden our fight against illegal gambling, strengthen responsible gaming initiatives, and innovate around best business practices.

“Through open dialogue and cooperation across borders, the AGA, ECA, and BGC are proactively safeguarding the integrity of the legal gaming industry and ensuring its continued growth and success,” Miller added.

The first initiative under the MOU will be a law enforcement roundtable that tackles illegal gambling.

Set for January 2025, the partners emphasized that the roundtable will unite industry leaders, law enforcement officials, and regulators to discuss how illegal gambling affects legal operators, consumer safety, and the global financial system.

The session will also focus on improving cross-jurisdictional communication and developing actionable solutions to these challenges.

Erwin van Lambaart, Chairman of the ECA, concluded: “The European Casino Association stands with the AGA and BGC in our commitment to tackling the key issues facing the gaming industry.

“The ECA fully supports this initiative and our ongoing efforts to combat illegal activity within the industry, strengthen player protections and security, and foster an environment of innovation and growth.

“On behalf of the ECA, I look forward to joining the upcoming law enforcement roundtable and sharing these insights with our members.”
