Norsk Tipping promotes Tonje Sagstuen to full CEO

The board of Norsk Tipping has confirmed the permanent appointment of Tonje Sagstuen as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Norway’s state-owned lottery operator.

A long-term executive of Norsk Tipping, Sagstuen has served as interim CEO since September following the departure of Thor Gjermund Eriksen.

Branded the ‘optimal candidate’, Sagstuen’s experience with Norsk Tipping is extensive and includes a five-year tenure as deputy CEO.

Previously, Sagstuen served as Chief Officer of responsibility, society, and communication, highlighting her involvement in the Norsk Tipping primary initiative of raising funds for Norwegian social and charitable organisations.

The appointment was announced by Norsk Tipping’s chairwoman, Sylvia Brustad. Brustad acknowledged Sagstuen’s deep understanding of the company’s workforce, social responsibilities and civic duties.

The board has expressed confidence in Sagstuen’s capabilities, particularly appreciating the work she accomplished during her interim tenure.

“Today I am pleased to be able to present Tonje Sagstuen as the new CEO of Norsk Tipping,” Brustad added. “With her, Norsk Tipping gets a skilled and experienced manager who knows the company and its employees very well.”

“The board has appreciated the work Sagstuen has done as acting CEO, and is pleased that she has accepted the position on a permanent basis. We are convinced that Sagstuen is the right person to lead Norsk Tipping going forward.”

Prior to embarking on her corporate journey, Sagstuen had a distinguished career as an athlete, representing Norway in over 200 matches as part of the national handball team.

Commenting on her appointment, Sagstuen said: “I am grateful for the trust the board shows in me, and humbled by the responsibility I have been given. Norsk Tipping is a large company that plays an important role for the whole of Norway, and I look forward to leading the work on our important social mission further.”
