Québec’s Council of Ministers has appointed Ann MacDonald as the new Chair of the Board of Directors of Loto-Québec.

From June 27, she will succeed Hélène F Fortin, who has held the position since 2008.

Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of Loto-Québec, commented: “The Board of Directors joins me in congratulating Ann MacDonald on her appointment. MacDonald has served on the Loto-Québec board of directors since March 2019. Since her appointment, she has put her skills and strategic vision to the State service of society.”

MacDonald is a graduate of HEC Montréal in business administration, the Project Management Institute of Pennsylvania and the College of Corporate Directors at Laval University.

During her 17 years at Bombardier Transportation, she held the positions of Director and Senior Director in the areas of project management, sales, business development, communications and public affairs, as well as positions Vice-President of Sales and Business Development and Vice-President of Communications and Public Affairs.

She was also a Senior Advisor at VIA Rail for the train fleet renewal program before becoming BONE Structure’s Chief Operating Officer in 2019.

MacDonald has been a member of the Conference Board of Canada and the Canadian Urban Transit Association and she currently chairs CHU Sainte-Justine’s Board of Directors. She is also on Aéroports de Montréal’s Board of Directors where she chairs the development and innovation committee.

Bergeron also acknowledged Fortin for her work as the corporation’s Chair of the Board of Directors, adding: “I would also like to thank Hélène F Fortin for her commitment to the company. She has always demonstrated exemplary rigour by applying the best governance practices. She also offered the same unwavering support to the presidents who have succeeded at the head of Loto-Québec.”

Earlier this month, Loto-Québec commented on the findings from the independent audit on money laundering and loan sharking in Québec casinos and gaming halls.
