Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) has published its October newsletter, detailing the organisation’s latest activities including the welcoming of its first Sport Associate Member,  Cyprus Sport Organization, and participation in the recent SBC event, Betting on Sports Europe – Digital

Also included in the newsletter is the latest data from its Q3 intelligence report which includes a study of betting operators and their sponsorship in sport, and updates on monitoring activity.

President Ludovico Calvi revealed that GLMS’ monitoring hubs are hard at work as alerts and suspicious patterns around sporting events remain high and unusual given the unprecedented situation driven by the COVID pandemic.

In total, 135 alerts were generated across October 2020, and GLMS alerted seven matches to partners including  sport organizations, regulators and law enforcement, due to significant odds movement, suspicious betting patterns or member information during the monitoring process.

October was a good month for GLMS’ media profile as the team and its members took part in various panels at the Betting on Sports Europe Digital summit organized by strategic partner, SBC

Calvi, General Secretary Giancarlo Sergi and Legal and Projects Manager, Cassandra Fernandes, as well as various members of GLMS, including Danske Spil, SISAL, la Francaise des Jeux and associate members Scientific Games Digital and Sporting Solutions all participated in the event that took place on 21-22 October 2020.

The various lotteries and GLMS personnel discussed topics including betting integrity in football and the funding of football by betting operators, which touched on GLMS’ recent study in this area. GLMS members further discussed how the lotteries have adapted in the COVID19 climate and touched on specific markets including Italy and Denmark. Views were also exchanged on the impact of the VAR on the English Premier League.
