National Lottery impacted as Dominican Republic repeals decrees

Luis Abinader Corona, the President of the Dominican Republic, has, through decree 459-20, canceled a series of decrees that assigned officials to the National Lottery.

The administrative measure repeals articles two, four, five, six and 15 of decree 572-11, which designated Sucre Julián, Douglas Escotto, Franklin Persia, Domingo King and Franklin Rosa as deputy general administrators.

Additionally, Abinader Corona also canceled the appointment of Mario Emilio Wyns, Juan Francisco Rosario, Luis Alberto Núñez Cuatro and Krismeldy Yajhaira Sánchez Read, other sub-administrators who had been elected between 2005 and early 2020.

Although the president has decided to nullify a large number of decrees, it has not yet been decided whether or not the National Lottery will add other sub-administrators or if it will continue to operate with its current staff.

The lottery industry in the Caribbean country has grown in recent months, despite the fact that the pandemic has hampered the usual lottery operations in the region. In fact, August saw the gaming company LOTEDOM present its new offer that features daily draws.
