Camelot to improve efficiency with GitHub initiation

Camelot Lottery Solutions has announced that it has initiated GitHub, a migration to software development platform that is set to significantly increase the organisation’s efficiency while also reducing delivery timelines to customers.

Brett Cross, Chief Technology Officer at Camelot Lottery Solutions, stated: “Migrating to GitHub will have a profound impact on our business, and ultimately the businesses of our customers too.

“Not only will we be faster in our development, and our code more secure, but having the best tools will also help us attract and retain the best developers.

“Removing friction from our processes through the use of GitHub will allow us to focus on building the products and solutions that power the lottery industry both now and in the future.”

The migration to GitHub will provide a single, unified platform for all code, continuous integration pipelines and deployments, as well as a direct link to the open-source community for collaboration.

Merritt Krakowitzer, Platform Engineering Manager at Camelot Lottery Solutions, commented: “I’m incredibly excited by unifying our development tools on a single platform. GitHub enables us to combine our code repositories, continuous integration pipelines, deployments, package management and security on a single platform. Github actions have simplified our CI/CD infrastructure, with the build pipelines defined in the code repositories.

“The open-source community that is the bedrock of the platform has already proven to be instrumental for our teams in being able to use community Actions and Apps.

“Having a fully managed SaaS platform for our development tools has significantly decreased the support my team needs to provide to engineering, allowing us to focus on building reliable infrastructure for our lottery products.”

The migration is now set to be completed in stages for each customer account, with the initial phase already resulting in significant improvements within the Software Engineering Test environment.

Glykeria Katsari, Lead Software Engineer at Camelot Lottery Solutions, added: “Moving to GitHub is a game changer. The more lightweight platform is incredibly popular with our developers, and the power of the integrated SaaS solution enables us to have one platform for hosting, building and testing our code. The dev teams can be more focused on writing code, rather than spending time maintaining the CI it runs on. The future of working on GitHub is very exciting.”
