ALSPI seeks economic answers from Brazilian government

The Association of Lotteries in São Paulo and Interior (ALSPI) has sent a formal request to the Brazil President, Jair Bolsonaro, and to the President of the Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, in an attempt to uncover possible solutions to the country’s ongoing economic crisis.

As explained in BNL Data, the lotteries denounce flaws in Caixa’s plan to maintain the sector’s profitability, and seek to strengthen the proposals with the support of Bolsonaro.

As a result, ALSPI has requested ‘presidential intervention’ in the dialogue with Guimarães, as up until this point, they have assured that good economic plans are yet to be received.

Additionally, ALSPI also revealed it met with Caixa in Planalto in April with the aim of establishing measures to help ease the cash flow from lottery operations.

Within the proposals, there was a package that included a minimum wage for gambling venues, special lines of credit and the expansion of limits for operations such as withdrawals, deposits and payment of receipts in lottery units.

However, it has been reported that the measures announced by the bank are yet to take effect, with the Lottery Association now requesting explanations from both Bolsonaro and Guimarães.
