Danske Spil has announced the upcoming appointment of Malene Mølgaard as its new Managing Director of the Lotteri Spil (lottery) unit.

Mølgaard replaces Pernille Mehl, who ended her seven-year tenure as Chief Executive of Lotteri Spil last November.

A newcomer to the gambling industry, Mølgaard joins Danske Spil from Scandinavian insurance provider Tryg Forsikring, heading up the firm’s commercial strategy and business development.

Updating stakeholders, the board of Danske Spil highlighted Mølgaard’s proven leadership experience, having delivered key commercial projects for Tryg to optimise the insurance group’s digital sales performance, CRM and sales support.

“I am very happy to be able to hire such a strong profile as Malene as director of Danske Lotteri Spil,” commented CEO Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen. “During her time at Tryg Forsikring, Malene has delivered great results in areas such as online and digitalisation, and is also an experienced and well-liked director with a great drive.”

The Danske Spil board has now concluded its search to replace Mehl despite Mølgaard not joining the organisation immediately; she is expected to join no later than the beginning of May.

“I look forward to being part of such an exciting company as Danske Spil, which plays an important role for the Danish cultural and association life,” added Mølgaard.

“I will therefore humbly approach the task and am proud to be involved in developing some of Denmark’s strongest brands and always ensure that they, both digitally and at Danske Spil’s many retailers, live up to customers’ rising expectations.”
