The Latvian lottery firm Latvijas Loto has confirmed the appointment of Edgars Lediņš as the new Chairperson of the Board.

The Council of the state-owned monopoly voted Lediņš to replace Maija Kubli, who is leaving Latvijas Loto after over 25 years leading the lottery.

Lediņš takes over after more than 24 years of service at the lottery. He first joined in 1997, acting as Vice President until 2004 when he then spent ten years as Sales and Marketing Director.

Since 2014, he has spent his second term sitting on the Board of Directors after a six-year spell between 2004-2010. The 49-year old is described as a ‘gaming industry professional with experience in various positions’.

Updating its stakeholders, Latvijas Loto confirmed that after Lediņš’ appointment as Chair, Jānis Pone will continue to serve on the Board, whilst Jolanta Jērāne has joined the Board from December 2021. Jērāne has experience in managing financial companies, such as AAS CBL Life and CBL Open Pension Fund.

Lediņš commented: “I appreciate the trust placed in me and I am glad to be able to use my experience in the job I know best – to run a lottery company. We will work on the technological development of the company, create new products, expand their availability to customers, and implement far-reaching plans in the field of social responsibility.”
