The Romanian Lottery is set to diversify its product portfolio by adding fixed-odds betting and online sports betting to its offering.

As reported by the local outlet Stiripesurse, an international public call is already posted on the company’s website as it seeks to improve its revenue streams.

“The Romanian Lottery has in view the restoration to the product portfolio of the company of fixed-odds betting and the introduction of online sports betting. In this sense, an international public call was posted on the Romanian Lottery’s website – www.loto.ro,” the lottery said in a statement.

As fixed-odds betting becomes increasingly popular globally, officials from the Romanian Lottery believe that sports betting is on the increase in the eastern European country.

“The reintroduction to the company’s product portfolio of fixed-odds betting represents a response to the expectations of the Romanian Lottery and, at the same time, another stage in the development of the company, which is one of the most important players on the gambling market,” the lottery added.

According to Stiripesurse, the lottery has opened a call for tenders to run the fixed-odds and online sports betting ventures, calling upon international gambling operators interested in holding the contracts to submit a bid by the end of January.
