Jumbo Interactive has confirmed the appointment of Nigel Atkinson as its UK General Manager as it seeks to expand into the UK charities market.
The Australian digital lottery firm has hired Atkinson to oversee the growth strategy and he will head up the UK operations of the firm.
In addition, he will take responsibility for Jumbo’s UK subsidiary company, Gatherwell, which was acquired in 2019.
Richard Bateson, Chief Commercial Officer, Jumbo Interactive, commented: “We are excited to have Nigel join Jumbo Interactive to head up our UK businesses which include Gatherwell.
“Nigel’s digital knowledge and expertise coupled with our ambitions in the UK market will help us support charities and not for profits with their fundraising and incentive giving programmes at this very important time.”
Atkinson comes into his new role boasting over 20 years of experience in the digital technology sector, working in both senior technical and commercial roles.
Furthermore, he founded a digital commerce consultancy in 1998 called Neoworks, which he later sold.
Atkinson’s most recent role was as a Business Development Director at Wunderman Thomas Commerce.
His appointment is viewed as a significant step in Jumbo’s growth as it navigates through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It says the UK growth strategy will combine its ‘digital expertise’ with its ‘experience with local causes and schools’ to set up and run a new sustainable UK operation.
Atkinson added upon his appointment: “Now more than ever charities are looking for ways to build back and generate new fundraising income. Society lotteries offer an important source of income and are a low-risk, sustainable fundraising solution.
“We are excited to further develop our presence in the UK, and make our software and services available to support more charities back into good health – whatever their size.”
