Payment service provider Bizum has reported that it has already reached 12,000 lottery operations after the agreement signed with the State Society for State Lotteries and Bets (SELAE), through which people can make payments and collect bets using QR codes.

After 14 months since its launch, Bizum’s operations have reached a volume of €65m or around €65 per operation. Since the agreement with SELAE in November 2020, users have carried out approximately 12,000 operations, of which 7,000 were payments and 5,000 prize collection.

Bizum also reported that the volume associated with these operations is €950,000. Payments totalled around €150,000, while prize collection €800,000.

Ángel Nigorra, General Director of Bizum, explained that in 2020 they actively promoted digitization efforts in Spanish businesses.

“Some have joined online sales and others want to give their customers the best shopping experience. This is reflected in our number of member businesses that find in Bizum an easy, comfortable, secure and universal mobile payment solution for their clients. The solution was also conceived in compliance with the requirements of the PSD2 payment directive, something highly valued by businesses,” he added.

In addition to the agreement with SELAE, Bizum also allows clients to make payments and collect bets through the bank BBVA. Last week, the sportsbook Sportium also announced that it became the first in the sector to integrate payments through Bizum into players’ accounts.
