The Louisiana Lottery Corporation has reported more than $8.2m in winning tickets for its draw-style games during October, highlighted by a Powerball match-5 ticket worth $1m. Scratch-off players claimed more than $13.8m in cash prizes last month as well.

In addition to the million-dollar winner, the lottery’s October draw-style game winnings included one Powerball with Power Play match-4+PB prize worth $150,000 and 26 Powerball match-4 prizes totaling $2,600. It also had two Mega Millions match-4+MB prizes totaling $20,000 and 10 Mega Millions match-4 prizes totaling $5,000.

The Bayou State lottery also had 52 players winning Lotto match-5 prizes totaling $69,567, helping to bring Lotto’s monthly total winnings to $353,759. Its Pick 3 winning tickets totaled $2,610,110 and Pick 4 winning tickets totaled $2,420,500, while Easy 5 prizes totaled $642,276 with an additional $130,759 won on ezmatch, an instant-win option available for an additional $1.

Louisiana Lottery President Rose Hudson said: “More than 23,000 Power Play purchasers won an extra $238,518 in addition to their regular Powerball prizes for a total of $393,492 in winnings. Also, more than 15,000 Megaplier purchasers won a bonus total of $92,384 in addition to their regular Mega Millions prizes for $149,296 in total winnings.”

In total, the lottery’s draw-style game winnings from drawings held last month were $8,224,160. In addition to $13,839,110 in scratch-off cash prizes paid during October, Louisiana Lottery players also claimed $2,468,006 worth of free-ticket prizes.

The lottery allocated nearly 54.3% of sales to fund prizes in the fiscal year 2020. 35% of sales were transferred to the state treasury for the Minimum Foundation Program that funds K-12 public education in the Bayou State. Retailers were paid 5.6% compensation and 5.1% was used to operate the lottery.
