The Virginia Lottery is bringing back one of its most popular games, Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle, with a few changes.

In previous years, the lottery has managed to sell all its available raffle tickets well before its deadline, so this year it has increased the number of available tickets from last year’s 375,000, to 500,000.

The increased number of tickets brings an increase in the number of winners as well, as there will be four $1m winning tickets, six $100,000 winning tickets, and 500 tickets that each win $500.

With four $1m tickets out of 500,000, there is a one-in-125,000 chance of winning the grand prize, some of the best odds offered by the lottery.

Each ticket costs $20 and they can be bought at any of more than 5,000 lottery retailers across the Old Dominion state. The winning ticket numbers will be announced at 2pm on January 1.

Virginia Lottery Executive Director Kevin Hall said: “We know Virginia Lottery players look forward to the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle each year. Between the excitement of a limited number of tickets and the prospect of starting the year with a million dollars, this is an offering that is sure to be wildly popular.”
