Singapore Pools to resume online sports betting

As reported by Channel News Asia, state-owned lottery operator Singapore Pools is set to resume online sports betting operations with immediate effect, with online horse wagering for overseas races set to also begin later in the week.

Despite this revelation, other Singapore-owned branches such as its authorised retailers, Livewire venues and off-course betting centres will remain closed thus keeping ‘in line’ with Government regulations as the Asian country undertakes a ‘phased approach for safe reopening and resumption of business activities.’

In addition to this, lottery draws, such as 4D, TOTO and Singapore Sweep, will also remain suspended, with customers now being told that existing tickets will roll over and be valid for future draws.

A statement released by Singapore Pools read: “Customers who are holding on to tickets for postponed draws are advised to retain their tickets for upcoming draws. Singapore Pools will continue its mission to provide safe and trusted betting to counter illegal gambling, which has seen rising cases during the circuit breaker.”

As well as the continued suspension of the lottery, prize payment services also remain inactive.

With this being said, an announcement regarding the extension of eligible prize-winning tickets for lottery draws, sports or horse racing events held between Oct 10 2019 and Apr 5 2020 is expected when prize payment services resume.
