The Global Lottery Monitoring System, in conjunction with both European Lotteries and the World Lottery Association, is preparing to launch its first joint sports integrity webinar since the COVID-19 outbreak on 23-25 June.

The webinar is set to address topics such as the ‘new normal’ that lotteries, sport movement, the sports betting sector and public stakeholders will have to adapt to as a result of the changing climate due to the virus.

A statement released by GLMS read: “During the COVID-19 pandemic, GLMS, EL and WLA sports betting operators have been proposing bet opportunities on unusual competitions.

“This has triggered specific types of investigations and more vigilant monitoring and has further highlighted the need for closer cooperation with the law enforcement and sports sectors.

“Panels and presentations will include information on the monitoring activities and trends over the last three months and how lotteries from East to West and other stakeholders have been dealing with this unprecedented situation.

“There will also be opportunities to exchange with presenters, panelists and moderators.”

Furthermore, the sessions are set to present industry leaders’ prominent opinions on how the sport movement, law enforcement agencies and lotteries have been working together effectively in investigations and awareness-raising activities, facilitated by GLMS.

Moreover, in addition to discussing a post COVID-19 industry landscape and recovery strategies, the webinar will also address the recent growth of the US sports betting sector.
