Clydebank community projects receive National Lottery funding

As reported by the Clydebank Post, four local community projects within the Scottish town look set to receive a boost amid the COVID-19 crisis, as it was revealed they would benefit from a section of the National Lottery’s £3.3m funding scheme.

The four organisations in question are the Carers of West Dunbartonshire, Clyde Shopmobility, Edinbarnet Parent Council and Drumchapel Asian Forum

These groups will now form part of the 282 organisations to receive National Lottery funding, will now continue to provide support and advice to those who require it the most as the health crisis continues to impact communities worldwide.

Neil Ritch, National Lottery Community Fund’s Scotland director, said: “This funding will make a huge difference to the lives of thousands more people and highlights the vital work that’s being done in communities across the country at the moment.”

The Carers of West Dunbartonshire, a non-profit organisation which provides support for carers across the area, is set to use the funding for a new project focusing on working with unpaid carers and supporting their access and participation in a range of stress management techniques.

Having received a similar sum of £8400, Clyde Shopmobility, a local service which offers a range of mobility equipment for those in need, is seeking to utilise the funding on the immediate and emerging needs of those who require mobility support in West Dunbartonshire.

Edinbarnet Parent Council is set to use its £2,000 to buy outdoor kit with the aim of setting up an intergenerational walking club for pupils and their families, while the Drumchapel Asian Forum has laid out plans to use it’s £9,900 bursary to run multi-cultural community meals and events.
