Caixa seeks boost in Lotofácil sales to recover lotteries revenues

The Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies (FEBRALOT) has confirmed receipt of “Lotofácil Improvements”, a new set of proposals written by Caixa Econômica Federal. The state-owned lottery operator from Brazil wants to boost sales to mitigate the losses perceived in March 2020.

According to the document published by BNL Data, Lotofácil’s revenues dropped 21.1% last month due to the pandemic. Under Caixa’s plan sales could grow 67.2% if approved by FEBRALOT and the Secretariat for the Evaluation of Public Policies, Planning, Energy and Lottery (SECAP).

Lotofácil draws currently take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm, and will also be extended to Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition, the number of multiple bets would increase to 19 and 20. Caixa’s analysis shows that this would not hurt other game revenues.

Moreover, the analysis also showed that there would be an increase in accumulated and total daily prizes, which are estimated to have a positive impact on the commission payment of lottery tickets and a 25,6% increase in ticket sales revenue.

In addition, Caixa assured that the plan could be implemented 45 days after it gets the approval from both lottery authorities. Meanwhile, lottery agents associations throughout Brazil are receiving inquiries from members about the implementation of the plan. They can share their comments until April 29 and then they will be reviewed by FEBRALOT.
